Road Rides in Bedford County
Come join us for some of the finest road riding in the East.
Bedford County's mix of empty, well maintained roads, friendly drivers, and spectacular scenery make it unique for great road biking.

Our routes have received high praise from numerous biking authorities but mostly from cyclists who have had the pleasure of riding them.
Bedford Co. is also home to the most interesting, different and strange trail in America!
An 8.5 mile bike trail on an abandoned section of the PA Turnpike with 2 tunnels. This ride will take you to a time and place that never existed. Post Apocalyptic America. Is this the past or the future? This ride travels the broken pavement of Americas first Superhighway, and brings you along on the most fun and weirdest ride you will ever have.

Bedford, PA is one of the finest places to bike ride in the eastern United States. A county set in the mountains with enough farm land to afford stunning views. Portions of the county are some of the least populated areas in the Mid-Atlantic, and the little traffic we have is very bike friendly. Perhaps due to the Cannondale Factory in Bedford that hand makes all of its world class bikes right here. As the countys largest employer, almost everyone knows someone who works there. And the roads are well maintained!
The rides have all been mapped and cued by the professional tour operators at Grouseland Tours. The routes are designed to showcase as many features and as much stunning scenery as possible. All routes make every effort to stay off the main highways, when ever possible the rides take the empty and scenic back roads.
How difficult are the rides? Bedford County is in the mountains. Even our flattest rides have some hills and climb in them. Our toughest rides glory in the mountains and add extra challenge to the rider. Most of our rides have been ridden with an altimeter which records the total climb. This is the accumulated height of all the hills on that ride. The grade is the height divided by the length of the ride. So some rides are longer but dont have as much climbing. The scale we use is only a relative one. Some may find that the easiest rout is too hard and some may feel the toughest ride too easy, (although we have never met that person, to date only a few people have completed the 4 State Century).
Many of those who have come to ride our routes have commented that these are the best bike rides that they have been on. We agree with them, and were sure that you will too!
